The data import consists in bringing all your documentation of other systems to OZmap and it is possible to import the following elements: poles, boxes, cables, clients, prospects, vertical buildings, horizontal condominiums, POPs and technical reserve. The coordinates (latitude, longitude) used in OZmap are in the pattern WGS84 (the same used by Google).

The imports can be requested to the OZmap's team through a service request, or then be done manually through the interface. This article will help you in case you choose for the second option.

To import, it is necessary that your data is located in a CSV file, but there are also ways of converting and importing KMZ or CAD files, for example. The CSV files must have its own fields involved by quotation marks and separated by commas. The first step to start the import is the conversion of files to this format.

Import of KMZ files

The KMZ is the main format used inside Google Earth, but can be found also in other softwares.

Import of AutoCAD files

When you export files from AutoCAD, the format delivered will be DWG or DXF, this end up making necessary to make the conversion of this file to KML, and then to a CSV.

Import of OZsurvey files

OZsurvey is an independent app from OZmap, ideal for assist in the registration of elements. To make more easy the import of data, the documented information will have the CSV format, making necessary only to handle the spreadsheet before import.

Handling Files

Now that your files are in the CSV format, the next step is to make the edition to add all the necessary information.

To open the files, we recommend the utilization of LibreOffice, but is also possible to use softwares like Google Sheets or Excel. In which of these systems a different way of opening the CSV will be used.

Since the importation is made according with the element, it is important that, in case your file has different categories of equipment, it has to be separated in multiple CSVs. For example, if there are POPs, boxes and clients in your CSV file, it is necessary to make the division and separate the boxes in one file, POPs in another and clients in another one.

It is also important to be careful with the mandatory fields to make the import of each equipment, every one of them have their mandatory specific elements and individual information that can be imported. In this article you can check which are the mandatory or optional columns and also example files for each element: Handling Spreadsheets.

In the moment of saving the changes, you must guarantee that your document has the following features:

  • Characters setting: Unicode (UTF-8)

  • Field delimiter: "," (comma)

  • Line delimiter: " (quotation marks)

  • To appear all the text ballots.

After setting, you can save your file and it will be ready.

Importing files

Now that your tables already are edited, it is possible to make the data import. We recommend to generate a backup of the system before making any import.

For that, you have to select the fourth blue icon in the left side menu. There you will have the options to add each element separately.

From the left to the right we have: poles, boxes, cables, clients, prospects, vertical buildings, horizontal condominiums, POPs, technical reserve and regions. As mentioned earlier, it is fundamental the separations of tables correctly.

When you click on one of these items, a tab where the import will be done will open. In the low part of this tab there is the "search" option, where you will choose a CSV file. After you choose the file you wish to import, if it is correctly settled, you need only to click on "import".

In case you are importing poles, you will be asked what is the distance for a pole to be considered duplicate. For example, if you set 1 meter, a pole being imported will look for poles 1 meter away. If it finds, the pole will not be imported because is going to be considered as a duplicate.

In case you are importing boxes, you will be asked the maximum distance in meters that the system needs to look for a pole. If there is a pole whitin the distance, this will be used for the setting of the box. If there is not a pole, a new one will be created in the same latitude/longitude of the box. After this the system will indeed import the boxes.

Errors

If there is an error, in other words, if the information are not according to the previous provisions, the lines that show error will be colored in red. The found error will be informed in the column "status" of the table; in case you have any doubts, get in touch with our support chat.
